The City of Oakland supports systems independent of the EMIS that can also help emergency responders turn their decisions into action. For instance, the automated emergency notification system at Pacific Bell can download lists of telephone numbers and automatically dial them in groups of 100 with pre-recorded emergency messages such as evacuation information or shelter-in-place directions. To take advantage of this system, responders need to identify the locations they want to automatically call and generate the listings of telephone numbers to send to Pacific Bell.
