Rachel and Jonathan,
August 17-29, 2005.

Prague Ceske Krumlov West Bohemia

Prague's Old Town Square is one of the most beautiful in Central Europe, thanks to structures like Tyn Church. (Photo/Sketch: Jonathan)

While sitting in a cafe waiting for the astronomical clock to strick, Jonathan did a sepia pen sketch of one corner of the Old Town Square. (Photo/Sketch: Jonathan)

The orloj or astronomical clock performs a mechanical dumbshow every hour on the hour. The two small blue doors open and apostles shuffle past, bowing to the crowd below. The then perceived four threats to the city (Death, a Jewish money lender, Vanity, and a Turk) also shake their heads or move limbs. A golden rooster centered above the blue doors crows to mark the show's end. We watched twice while relaxing in the cafe. (Photo/Sketch: Jonathan)
